Breakfast is served in a gorgeous hospitable setting by a fireplace, and in the garden during the warmer season, under a lovely bower of jasmine. Typical Italian and local products for you every day, including natural and organic specialties such as fresh milk, honey, yogurt, freshly laid eggs, the typical piadina of Emilia-Romagna, prepared both al testo and fried,Tuscan ficattola, homemade cakes and jams, genuine salami and cheeses.
THE ROOMS
Furnished with great attention to detail, both the suite and the two charming superior rooms feature elegant spaces with wooden beams, fireplaces in each room, windows overlooking the garden, Wi-Fi internet, TV, large welcoming private bathrooms with shower or bath tub, hairdryer and bathrobes, in addition to a practical wardrobe with a luggage rack. The spacious suite features a fireplace in an intimate living room with a sofa and armchairs, and another fireplace in the bedroom.

Among the favorite nature itineraries in the vicinity of the bed & breakfast are the Strada della Lavanda [lavander], Strada delle Ginestre [gorse], the Pliocene blue clay ravines, the geological stratifications of the Riva dei Cavalli and the park of the Vena del Gesso Romagnola, nestled in a rich bird sanctuary.
Fontanelice, a medieval hamlet with its popular traditions and fascinating scenery, also holds the appellation of Città del Vino. For lovers of good cuisine, this region is a popular destination for wine and food tasting tours: some of the events not to miss at Fontanelice include the Sagra della piè fritta (fried piadina flat bread), with the Corsa degli Asini (donkey race), the Sagra del Tartufo (trufles festival), the Calici di Stelle (10 August), and collecting chestnuts in the autumn.

HISTORY OF FONTANELICE
The town's place name, derived from the Latin Fons Illicis (fountain near a holm-oak tree), originates from a fountain set under a tree. According to legend, this fountain is a nymph which was transformed into spring water in order to unite herself eternally with her lover, a young philosopher she met in the woods, who in turn turned himself into a tree.
Today's Fontanelice rises where Etruscans, Galls and Romans once passed. However, the first authentic settlement of Fontelice arose following the Byzantine victory of the invasion of the Goths. Urbanization was developed during the feudal period under the Alidosi, a powerful landowning family that conferred on the town center of Fontanelice its characteristic medieval architecture.
The dominations of the Papal States, Cisalpine Republic, Apostolic League of Ravenna, Grand Duchy of Tuscany and Reign of Italy arrived later still.
Used by the English troops as a front line, Fontanelice suffered a great deal of damage during the WW II, followed by a long period of reconstruction.
